Trauma Therapy That Never Asks You to Relive It.

Trauma affects the body, not just the mind. My work is trauma informed and body led: you do not have to tell the story, and you do not have to go back there.

Why the body holds on

Trauma Affects the Body, Not Just the Mind.

When something overwhelming happens, the body's survival responses (fight, flight or freeze) switch on automatically. For some people those responses stay switched on long after the event. They can show up as tension, a startle that comes too easily, numbness or a body that never fully rests. Talking therapies can help make sense of what happened, and body based approaches offer another way in, through the nervous system rather than words alone.

Breathwork, tremor therapy and Spinal Flow Technique® are gentle, body led practices that can help the nervous system to settle. People come to me for support with stress, difficult life experiences, grief and the after effects of hard times. They do not replace therapy or medical care, and I am always happy to work alongside your therapist or doctor.

How I work

Trauma Informed, at Your Pace.

I am a certified trauma informed breathwork coach. You are in control throughout: you can slow down, pause, open your eyes or sit up at any time. Nothing is forced. In a one to one session we agree beforehand what you do and do not want, and I stay with you the whole way. The same applies with tremor therapy.

Spinal Flow is the quietest of the three, a good place to start if a more active breathing session feels like too much right now. You get to be present on the massage couch, lying face down, fully clothed. You will receive gentle, physical touch along certain access points on the spine and cranium.

This work is not a replacement for psychological therapy or medical care, and I am not a counsellor or psychotherapist. Many people do both. If you are in crisis, please contact your GP, NHS 111, or Samaritans on 116 123.

What people say

Lighter, in Their Own Words.

Becky came to a breathwork session not knowing what to expect: "I never knew I needed this in my life but it's really allowed me to release some trauma." Carl had tried lots of therapies and called it "hands down the most profound experience I've had." Their words, unedited, are on the homepage.

I have also run weekly breathwork with two addiction recovery projects in Coventry for two and a half years. I am extremely proud of this work and the positive outcomes it brings.

What you do not have to do

Nothing Is Asked of You That You Do Not Want to Give.

You do not have to…

  • Tell your story, or say a word
  • Relive anything
  • Keep your eyes closed if you would rather not
  • Stay lying down
  • Keep going once you have had enough
  • Be good at it
  • Have done anything like it before
  • Explain why you came

Questions people ask

Questions People AskAbout This.

Straight answers, in my own words. If yours is not here, message me and I will answer it myself.

Will I have to talk about what happened?

No. You can tell me as much or as little as you like. The sessions themselves do not involve talking, and you never have to relive anything.

Is this suitable if I have PTSD?

Many people living with PTSD and CPTSD come to me, and the work is trauma informed and paced to you. Please tell me when you book, keep your GP or therapist in the loop, and choose one to one over a group session for your first time.

Is this a replacement for therapy, counselling or medical care?

No. Breathwork, tremor therapy and Spinal Flow are supportive, body based practices. They do not replace therapy, counselling, medication or medical care. Many people use them alongside, and some find they add something different, so please keep any existing support in place and let your therapist or doctor know what you are trying. If you are in crisis, contact your GP, call NHS 111 or call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time. If you are in immediate danger, call 999.

Can body tremoring help release stuck trauma?

Tremor therapy was developed to help the body release the effects of stress and trauma without needing to talk about the past or relive it, and many people find it helpful for this reason. It is not a replacement for trauma therapy, and I work with you sensitively and at your own pace. There is more on the trauma therapy page.

What is the difference between tremor therapy and trauma therapy?

Trauma therapy, such as trauma focused CBT or EMDR, is delivered by qualified mental health professionals and is one of the recommended treatments for PTSD. Tremor therapy is different. It is a body based self regulation method that uses simple exercises to bring on natural shaking, aiming to release tension and support the nervous system. It is not a treatment for PTSD, and research is still early. Some people use both, and they can complement each other well. If you are in therapy, it is always worth telling your therapist.

Not Sure Which? Ask Me.

A short message is enough. I answer everything myself, usually the same day, and I will tell you honestly which session fits.
